Women’s Self Defense & Personal Safety: Mothers & Daughters (12-15)
January 22 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
This course gives moms and their daughters a common experience and context for better communication around the topic of gender violence. Students build the skills, self-confidence and situational awareness needed to avoid, escape, deescalate, and/or defend themselves in almost any confrontational situation. Physical techniques adapted from several martial art styles and taught in an emotionally and physically safe environment. Our classes prioritize boosting self-confidence while also teaching effective fighting techniques. The ultimate real-world strategy is to avoid physical conflict through outright avoidance de-escalation, escape, or evasion. When paired with effective physical skills, the resulting boost in self-assurance aims to deter predators as well as removing these students from the typical target/victim demographic, which has been shown to be people who are more obviously vulnerable.
